Irradiation tests of the transmutation of the fission products technetium and iodine have been performed in the high flux reactor at Petten. Samples of technetium metal (Tc-199) and of 3 different metal iodides (cerium triiodide, sodium iodide ad lead diiodide, containing the stable I-127 isotope) have been irradiated during eight reactor cycles (192.95 full power days, corresponding to a neutron fluence of 2E26 m{-2}). Post-irradiation examination has been performed to measure the transmutation rate and to investigate the material behaviour during irradiation.
