Langmuir probes at high frequencies in a magnetized plasma: a theoretical and experimental study
In this dissertation, it is shown, experimentally and in numerical simulations, that there are additional, capacitive components of Langmuir current flow, which shed new light onto the properties of both the flux tube and the sheath. For the measurement of high frequency Langmuir characteristics of flush mounted probes in the divertor plates of ASDEX-Upgrade, a new technique is presented, whereby the current and the voltage at the probe are calculated by means of the transmission line transformation from the values measured at a certain distance from the probe along the coaxial cable.
