PISC III capability studies in wrought and cast austenitic steel welds: influence of type of defect and material on inspection performance
Phase 3 of the Programme for the Inspection of Steel Components (PISC III) was initiated with the objective to conduct studies on components, materials and flaws representative of those found in nuclear power plants. This paper presents analysis of the inspection results of 3 capability studies on stainless steel welds. The influence of parameters such as flaw type, flaw size, kind of material or macrostructure on the detection performance, false call performance, depth and length sizing performance are discussed.
