An americium extraction calculation model (AECM) was set up from the HNO(3)-Nd(NO(3))(3)-NaNO(3)-TRPO-kerosene system. The AECM was verified with genuine high level liquid waste (HLLW) in counter current experiments of miniature centrifugal contactors. The calculated values agreed with the experimental results very well. The AECM could be used to calculate the Am concentration profiles in the trialkyl phosphine oxide (TRPO) process. It could also be used to optimize the TRPO process parameter for Am extraction from HLLW.
