Ground movements resulting from miningFunded under: ECSC-COALRES 7C
The main aim of this project was to investigate the application of new surveying instrumentation in measuring vertical and horizontal ground movements due to mining activities to a high standard of accuracy. In order to assess the reliability of the new instrumentation, observations were conducted on stable survey networks and baselines established primarily for test and calibration purposes in non-mining areas in addition to areas possibly affected by underground mining. A detailed description of the work carried out during this project and of the results obtained, knowledge gained and conclusions drawn are all contained in the report.
