Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

These advices arose from the demand for information on the part of calibration laboratories for mass. Although good literature on mass and mass determination is already available, some additional practical information is required to facilitate the first steps in the work of a calibration laboratory. This information is presented here in a condensed form. The most important fomulas and tables are indicated, and the requirements specified, according to accuracy classes, which calibration laboratories must meet. Great importance has been attached to the discussion of the uncertainties. The most important recommendations of the ISO Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement have been set at the beginning of the report. The report does not claim to be complete. Some subjects have been excluded intentionally, as they are described elsewhere. Reading of general, introductory publications is, therefore, imperative for beginners.

This report is a revised and translated edition of the report Hinweise für die Kalibrierung von Massenormalen of 1994 (PTB-MA-31). .
