The integration of photovoltaic (PV) elements in building facades and roofs represents important opportunities for a wider market penetration of photovoltaic solar energy application. Hybrid PV components are building elements in which the integration of PV elements not only serves for electricity production, but where the heating-up of the elements is also used for other purposes. At component level, the efficiency of heat production may be substantially higher than the electrical efficiency. The evaluation at building level should take account of the usability of both electrical and thermal output of the facade component. In this paper, the performance of hybrid PV components is assessed by different methods.
