Abstract

The aim of the project was to upgrade the drive system Safesydor, proven in underground mining, by the load compensation function in a cost-effective way. For the realisation of this additional function, a modification of the electro and hydraulic steering was necessary. The electro-steering was built up from the hardware, and software was developed for the combined drive for overload protection and load compensation. The hydraulic steering was extended by adding a second control valve to improve the control behaviour during power compensation. In addition, there was an increase in the overload protection when dealing with soft blockages. The testing over a period of days on a planing and conveyor belt installation has proven the operational usefulness of the drive system in the combination of overload protection and load compensation. In the conveyor belt drive technology, the equalisation of performance is not a problem. The operation of the plane shows operationally far higher dynamic requirements, mainly in the fast rotation stage, than the conveyor belt drive. As the performance equaliser is only set up to regulate quasi-statistical differences in performance, fast and dynamic changes caused by the system cannot be equalised.
