The aim of the research was to determine the rationalisation potential in construction, to formulate the demands on the backfill technique in the machine drive, and to develop concepts to improve the integration of the backfill technique. By optimising the backfill technique, the degree of usage of the machine drive and the drive speed can be increased and the costs reduced. The tensioning is composed of three two-part bow-shaped carriers, that are connected with each other by cross-carriers. Between the bow-shaped carriers there are a total of eight tensioning elements, that are pressed against the concrete casing by a hydraulic cylinder. A total pressure of 2352 kN against the concrete was recorded when an area pressure of 0.2N/mm{2} was exerted; therewith a forward drive of approximately 1646 kN (friction value 0.7) can be harnessed. The tension unit is connected via 4 hydraulic cylinders with the support casing, as well as the construction material back support, and they can be driven forward independently of each other (cylinder hub 800 mm).
