Abstract

This collection contains some of the papers presented at the workshop: Managing Technological Knowledge Transfer held under the auspices of the COST A3 Action in Milan (Italy), February 1-2 1996. The first topic, collaboration among universities and firms, contained papers focusing on:
regions, networking and the bases for successful firm formation and innovation;
technology transfer in central and eastern Europe;
organizational and cultural dynamics within firms which may act as barriers to technology transfer.

The second session consisted of papers on the topic: Science and technology parks and technological services to small and medium sized enterprises (SME). The third topic of technology transfer and firm management, ranged along a continuum from academic research to the adoption of new technology by companies. Papers presented dealt with academic research, enabling institutions, model to identify companies' needs for inward technology transfer, organizational innovation, managing dispersed research and development facilities, managing technology transfer. fer.
