Abstract

The CAESAR computer code for particle resuspension in turbulent pipe flows is a promising analytical tool to simulate turbulent resuspension of particle sediments in tubes. Although preliminary calculations with CAESAR show physically consistent results, further effort is needed to improve the major areas of weakness. The current model does not account properly for turbulent bursts in the near-wall region. The model for turbulent flow in the viscous sublayer have to be improved, for a realistic simulation of particle-turbulence interaction and particle reentrainment in turbulent pipe flows.
