Sketch of a multi-criteria decision support system for the transport of dangerous goods through road tunnels
The question of allowing or denying the transport of dangerous goods through tunnels, is a problem which seem to have so many problem dimensions, that a multi-criteria decision support approach is needed. Some of the dimensions are already known, like fatality risk, interruption risk, cost of transporting by an alternative route, physical layout of tunnel and emergency equipment, and risk of alternative route. The scope of this paper is to outline how a decision support system could be constructed, which would be able to handle these dimensions and provide aid to the decision maker.
