The ESReDa guidebook on the effective use of safety and reliability data with particular reference to intelligent selections from raw reliability data
This paper summarizes the topics covered by the ESReDa Guidebook on the Effective Use of Safety and Reliability Data and presents one of them: a method for sampling from databases storing raw reliability data for estimation of and testing for reliability parameters. The procedure results in a relatively small number of taxa were most data lie. The dependence of component variables makes the procedure economical with regard to the exclusion of data and relevant to the identification of errors in the collection or storage of the data. The procedure has been applied to form a taxonomy for electric motors.
