Modelling of steel microstructural evolution during thermomechanical treatment
This publication is the Proceedings of the ECSC Workshop "Modelling of Steel Microstructural Evolution during Thermomechanical Treatment" held in Brussels on 22 January 1997 which continues a series of ECSC-supported workshops devoted to scientific and technical discussion focused on the solution of technological problems of major interest to the European steelmaking industry. The aims of this Workshop were to stimulate a wider technical discussion, to clarify ideas and concepts arising from the international state of the art and from results of related ECSC projects, and to attempt to formulate common technical viewpoints. The presentations and the discussion provided some clear inputs on the status of the technologies and problems related to the modelling of steel microstructural evolution during thermomechanical treatment. The industrial/economic challenge is very great and explains the number of research projects undertaken, several of which have been or are being funded through the ECSC Research Programme "Steel". RTD projects address the subject from various starting points, such as: process parameters, product requirements, model development, data input, analysis and measurement aspects.
