Remote sensing of coastal interactions in the Mediterranean region
Optical sensors, operating in the visible/infrared spectral region, have shown their usefulness for providing novel information on physical, geo-chemical and biological processes of coastal areas. Selected applications of optical observation techniques in the Mediterranean region, conducted in the framework of international demonstration programmes (ie the Ocean Colour European Archive Network, OCEAN, Project), provide examples of the remote sensing potential in the field of integrated coastal/marine environmental management.
