Abstract

Belt conveyors which are used for bulk materials handling, operate in predominantly straight lines. Any abrupt changes in direction require another conveyor and all of its associated equipment. In response to this problem, Huwood International have designed an angle station that enables a 900 mm wide belt conveyor to go around a 90 corner. The design has been successfully tested as part of a triangular conveyor circuit at Huwood's factory in Gateshead, England. Underground trails in a potash mine should begin in October 1994 and these will determine its long-term performance and reliability.
