Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The European Network of Testing facilities for the Quality Checking of Radioactive Waste Packages (The Network) was created in 1992 on the initiative of the European Commission. Its objectives are to promote and facilitate collaboration in the development, application and standardization of quality checking for waste packages. It involves laboratories of Member States of the European Union that are performing regulatory checks on waste packages. The practical work is carried out in specialized working groups: WG1 on non-destructive testing by gamma assay, WG2 on measurement of volatile releases from waste packages, WG3 on quality assurance/quality control procedures, WG4 on active and passive neutron assays, WG5 on chemical and radiochemical destructive analysis.

This document is the first annual report for 1995 of The Network. The report describes the creation, objectives and organization of The Network and the status of the technical actions undertaken in the different working groups. .
