Abstract

In this study a series of synthetic mixtures of thorium isotopes was prepared on gravimetrical basis. The starting compounds consisted of natural thorium Th-232 (99.99%) and highly enriched Th-230 (99.8%). These materials were chemically purified and characterized for isotopic composition and chemical purity. ThO(2) was demonstrated to be a suitable compound for gravimetrical blending. The isotope amount ratios in the mixtures range from 1E-2 to 3E-6. These synthetic isotope mixtures are the first ever prepared for thorium. They may serve for the calibration of measurements of thorium isotope amount ratios.
