Definition of the peripheral conditions in an analysis of FE-structure by use of symmetric conditions of a stellarator arrangement
The large plasma fusion experiment WENDELSTEIN 7-X (W 7-X) is a stellarator whose design is modular. The equipment is based on 5 moduls (periods) with respect to the concept of the modular coil system. The coil system consists of an arrangement of 50 coils. This system is characterized by certain symmetry properties which are defined by the physics of the plasma confinement. Consideration of these properties could turn out to be particularly useful in the structure analysis. The present report will contribute to the understanding of various symmetry conditions used in the structure analysis of this stellarator type. The application of this symmetry provides a great advantage in the context of the model construction. The analysed structure can be confined to half a period. In this way the main emphasis of the analysis is transfered to a high confinement of the element subdivision. This improvement is equivalent to an increased precision of the calculated results.
