Abstract

Starting out from the general demands on a feeding bus specific to mining, as formulated in section A of the project, a more extensive specification of the requirements was drawn up. These include, in addition to special interests regarding communications technology, the requirements from the viewpoint of explosion protection. This ended in a field bus concept for intrinsically safe transmission technology - developed for the first time in the area of international standardization - which integrates the ignition protection groups I and II. For test and trial purposes, a prototype system was put together from these components, and its functionally was proven by testing whether the set of requirements had been fulfilled. In the process, the transmission characteristics of the system, in connection with the parameters of the medium of transmission, were determined in particular, and a compromise for the long-distance feedability of the system was found. The modular concept of a bus testing device for reproducing sensor signals and displaying the information given on the bus, as well as for monitoring the data traffic, with the storage and display of the communications sequences and the reproduction of corresponding bus loads, was created.
