A comparative study of radiation estimation methodologies
One of the current efforts of the Joint Research Center of the European Union and its MARS project, Monitoring Agriculture with Remote Sensing, is to contribute to fill the gap that exists with respect to quantitative knowledge about the distribution in time and space of solar radiation, and to the use of the data in the analysis of the agricultural processes. Resulting information is made available rapidly to decision makers in agriculture. This report presents some of these studies, it is hoped that its publication will contribute to the further exchange of information on the subject and to the establishment of a more fully exploitable network of base data from which information on the distribution of solar radiation can be derived.
