Abstract

When developing and improving tracer dispersion models, it is important to detect the uncertainties in the input data and the model formulation. Errors in the meteorological input data, used by the Server Nuclear Accident Program (SNAP) dispersion model have been investigated by using 32 ensemble forecasts produced at the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). When comparing the tracer dispersion from the SNAP model using ensemble forecasts input, a large spread in the predicted puff evolution was detected.
