A non-linear shear model for R/C bridge piers
A model for the simulation of squat piers under important transverse forces is presented: a classic fibre model with shear behaviour simulated through the strut-and-tie theory. The model includes an additional fibre working in parallel with the standard longitudinal fibres. The results are compared with the experimental response of a bridge pier tested at large scale at the ELSA laboratory of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra, Italy.
