Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The main objective of COST Action B8 is to increase our knowledge of cellular and molecular aspects of normal and abnormal tooth formation and to make this information profitable for clinical work. This is the first annual report of its activities. The European potential in the field has to be exploited through coordination, rapid exchange of scientific information and sharing of laboratory facilities and technical expertise. The participating laboratories should interact in the frame of 4, partially overlapping working groups (WG's):

- WG 1: Evolution;
- WG 2: Odontogenic neural crest cells, patterning, tooth initiation and morphogenesis;
- WG 3: Cytodifferentiation in development and repair;
- WG 4: Extracellular matrix mineralization.

The first Management Committee meeting was held in Brussels, 16 March 1995 (part 1 of this report). The Card index of participating laboratories has been up dated and is presented in part 2. The WG coordinators drew up the respective consensus reports which were discussed at WG meetings held in Strasbourg, 28-29 September 1996. During the Management Committee meeting held in Strasbourg the applications for 6 Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) were approved. roved.
