This pan-European conference, jointly organized by the Open Society Foundation and the European Commission, brought together some 250 experts from 26 countries. The programme focused on key topics regarding the introduction of information technology in libraries: standards, retroconversion, document delivery, national bibliographies and cooperation and resource sharing. These proceedings provide a unique and comprehensive overview of the state of library development in Central and Eastern Europe, with a focus on library automation and networking.
