Occupational exposure limits: Key document: Criteria for the qualitative evaluation of human neurobehavioural studies of neurotoxicity
The publication is a key document for the establishment of occupational exposure limit values prepared by the Institute of Occupational Health, Birmingham, in the United Kingdom on behalf of the European Commission. This document was specifically requested by the Scientific Committee for Occupational Exposure Limits (SCOEL). The objective of the document is to give guidance on the interpretation of neurobehavioural investigations, specifically in the assessment of the design, the appropriateness of the method and the interpretation of the results in terms of their health significance. This key document will be used in the preparation of limit values for the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to chemical agents at work. It will allow all interested parties to see the kind of deliberations that are now being used in the evaluation of the concerned effects.
