The strong component of the s-process is responsible for the synthesis of the heavier elements in the nucleosynthetic chain, from (204)Pb up to (209)Bi. In this mass region the abundances are strongly influenced by the (208)Pb bottle-neck and the atypical temperature dependence of the Maxwellian-averaged cross section (MAC). In an effort to understand quantitatively the solar abundances of the elements that were measured with high resolution at the Geel electron linear accelerator. Capture areas were determined for neutron resonances in the energy range between 200 eV up to 1 MeV and the Maxwellian-averaged cross sections were derived as a function of stellar temperature. The obtained values have been used for a double-pulse s-process analysis and the implications of the results are discussed.
