Numerical evaluation of dead time correction methods in passive neutron assay
Assay of plutonium samples, in a typical passive neutron counter, is simulated by use of Monte Carlo calculations. The influence of a paralyzing dead-time on the neutron signal pulse train is investigated for various plutonium masses and counting rates. Three different dead-time correction methods are compared.
