Abstract

The present work is aimed at studying the metallurgical aspects of thin slab casting and direct rolling with special attention to ferritic rolling for the production of thin hot strips. ELC and ULC-Ti steels are studied. According to the final rolling temperature in the ferrite region, it is aimed at producing:

- A hot strip for direct application; in this case ferritic rolling is performed at a rather high temperature to ensure complete recrystallization in the coil;
- A strained hot strip for direct annealing (galvanizing); in this case ferritic rolling is performed at a lower temperature. The effects of some processing parameters have been studied: cold charging, isothermal holding before hot rolling, rolling and coiling temperature. e.
