The perfection of the conditions under which microanalysis of steel by means of EDX-SEM was carried out in this study. Different models of mathematical reversion were studied to link the simple average intensities with each concentration within each pattern. These mathematic models take into account additive and multiple interferences within the analysed elements. Among the models, one was chosen according to the optimum coefficient of reversion and the smallest degree of error determined during its application (difference between the real concentration and the calculated one).

The following figures were calculated: the results from the method through each element, and the range of application of each element. The recurrence was evaluated by applying the method already elaborated to several patterns selected from the range-of-patterns unit. Eventually, the results that are obtained by utilising this new method of analysis are being compared with those obtained by employing other techniques already set up such as SEM, EDX, ZAF and XRT. .
