The great amount of accidents at sea are due to human error. Although these errors may be of completely human origin, they may be influenced by design which (faulty or unergonomic), work procedure (organization, information could be inadequately and defectively provided, even assistance from shore could be not adequate. This research project named MASIS (Man Ship Interface System) is a study of these subjects which has the aim to determine the causes of error in terms of human factors in a broad sense, in order to find out actions of minimizing the occurrence of human error. The findings of the study are presented in this report.
