Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The present document is the final and public report of the Technology and Human Aspects of Maritime Efficiency and Safety (THAMES) project. It includes a very brief introduction to the project title and the consortium partners who undertook the work under the THAMES name. This is followed by a brief description of the THAMES work programme. Research results and technical achievements are summed up by each task leader in specially prepared summaries. The management tools used during the THAMES project are described. The baseline for the THAMES project is the collation of results of two EURET maritime transport domains, in order to provide a common base for future EU research in the field of interaction between humans and technology in shipping:
Domain 23 (Optimization of Manpower in Maritime Transport: Improvement of the Competitiveness in Community Maritime Transport through Implementing Advanced Technology - project ATOMOS);
Domain 24 (Human Factors in the Man/Ship System for the European Fleet - project MASIS).
