Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report presents the results of a study undertaken to identify users needs and to elaborate functional requirements for the development of an Airport Movement Control and Management (AMCM) system, concerning all communication between related systems in operation at airports. The result of this task is the definition of all necessary communication functions for the required Airport Interconnection System. This has to be done with respect to the content, the amount and the timing requirements of data exchange related to the AMCM system functions (eg monitoring, planning and guidance) as well as with respect to integration of existing and planned systems. The approach was to gather and analyse the specific user requirements affecting communications between existing and already planned systems, to assemble concisely these requirements resulting from the systems and environment at the given airports, and to derive a functional system description. Based on the survey an analysis of current deficiencies in data communications was derived and achievable improvements identified.
