This report presents the comments and findings of an independent panel of qualified experts of the activities carried out within the domains covered by the specific programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies, and their management during this assessment. The central emphasis of the work has been on precompetitive, generic research, conducted in a collaborative manner across national borders and involving industry, research institutions and universities. The report assesses the relevance of the programme against evolving scientific and technological objectives, its efficiency and cost effectiveness and the level to which the programme contributes to the competitiveness of Community industry, among other objectives. The report also includes various statistical analyses concerning project participation, programme core indicators and replies to a questionnaire on project management.
