This report describes in detail the evaluation of the specific programmes in the field of Standards, Measurements and Testing implemented over a period of five years. It includes comments and findings of an independent panel of qualified experts of the activities carried out within the covered domains. The central emphasis of the work has been on measurements and testing related to the needs of society and in support to Community Policies and Written Standards. Throughout an aim has been to improve the quality of measurements and testing and to facilitate the mutual recognition of quality controls in Europe and at world level. The report recognises that the programmes in the field of Standards, Measurements and Testing have been of major significance for the implementation of the EC Policies. It recommends to maintain and strengthen these actions in future. The report includes various statistical analyses concerning project participation, programme core indicators and replies to a questionnaire on project management.
