Radiation risk, risk perception and social constructions
In October 1995 an international workshop on Radiation Risk, Risk Perception and Social Constructions was convened in Oslo, Norway, co-organized by the Norwegian and Swedish radiation protection authorities and the European Commission. Radiation protection authorities are concerned with measurements and evaluation of radiation doses to the population in their daily work, considering questions about whether or not these doses have harmful effects on man, and trying to minimize unnecessary doses. The agencies issue regulations to industry, institutions, health professionals and the public, on the basis of recommendations from, for example, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).This proceedings volume contains nearly all of the communications at the workshop, as well as a few papers which were intended for presentation, but where the author was prevented from attending.
