In this paper, the main actions of the Programme for the Inspection of Steel Components (PISC) are used to evaluate the capability of the in service inspection methods as they were carried out on the test assemblies in terms of flaw detection, characterization, sizing and rejection/acceptance. Information is also provided about the current status of the European Methodology for Inspection Qualification which is being developed in the framework of the European Network for Inspection Qualification (ENIQ) in which the Joint Research Centre has the role of operating agent and reference laboratory.
