Abstract

The Graetz infinite series solution in the thermal entrance region of laminar flow convection is considered. A methodology is presented which permits the fast numerical evaluation of the solution with pre-determined accuracy. Accurate asymptotic expressions are derived for the coefficients appearing in the series. For the evaluation of the eigenfunctions a simple summing technique, which uses two infinite series forms, is employed, together with existing asymptotic expansions. The precision of the results is ascertained thoroughly. The methodology can be implemented with little programming effort.
