The oxidation behaviour of pure Cr, Cr5Fe and the oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy Cr5Fe1Y(2)O(3) was studied in air and (Ar)-H(2)-H(2)O in the temperature range 900 - 1100 C. The materials were studied during long term exposure at 950 C for up to 5000 hours. Additionally, in situ studies were carried out using hot stage microscopy. Post exposure analyses were carried using light optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM/EDX).
