Following an introduction on the Alpine Convention and its 12 topics of action, as well as on the on-going activity programme of the Alpine observatory (SOIA), the oral presentation: will show the present state of environmental data supply and develop on the difficulties of defining environmental indicators without tools such as catalogues of data sources (eg) that are inherent in the heterogeneity of environmental information; will precise which methodology had been developed by the SOIA to provide statistical results useful for decisions makers, scientists, NGO or even the general public.
