This article discusses inelastic scattering measurements on a single crystal of NpBi. The magnetic excitation spectrum consists of two branches with longitudinal and transverse polarization, respectively. The excitations are interpreted as spin waves in an antiferromagnetic triple-k type-I structure. With increasing temperature, the anisotropy gap decreases monotonously and disappears at T(N). As the ordered magnetic moment in NpBi has the free ion Np(3+) moment value, the anisotropy gap cannot originate from crystal electric field interactions, and the triple-k structure of NpBi is anticipated to be stabilized by two-ion quadrupolar terms.
