Activities of the European Soil Bureau and state of progress of the European soil information system
Numerous actions for the determination of soil resources have been made in Europe over the years, but without real harmonization. Many have been supported by the European Commission, but not sufficiently coordinated. A European Soil Bureau has been recently created to better coordinate the European activities on soil. This paper presents briefly the organization of the projects of European Soil Bureau. The state of progress is discussed of one of those projects resulting from an important and fruitful effort of consultations: the European soil information system.
