A new device for the automatic trace-determination of airborne diisocyanates and formaldehyde
In this paper the application range of a new automatic analyzer, developed and validated for carbonyl compounds, has been extended to the determination of diisocyanates in the atmosphere. The extended version of the instrument has been tested at an Italian furniture manufacturing plant. The suitability of the instrument for the control of workplace exposure is here described on the basis of the test results. The daily concentration pattern of 2,6-toluenediisocyanate and formaldehyde were respectively determined in a spray booth during manual application of polyurethane finishes and during veneer-pasting with urea-formaldehyde based glues.
