Proceeding of the workshop on status of measurement techniques for the identification of nuclear signatures
Safeguards applications of information obtained from environmental analysis, which can yield additional knowledge on the handling of nuclear material in a country or area, have been gaining in importance since the recent demonstration of the usefulness of these methods in detecting undeclared activities. The aim of this workshop held in Geel (BE), 25-27 February, 1997 is to establish the status of measurement techniques for the identification of nuclear signatures, both in general and in Europe in particular. The workshop has concentrated exclusively on the scientific aspects of the measurement techniques and sample preparation for measurements, but not on sampling as such. The programme includes the following sections: radiometric techniques; mass spectrometric techniques; particle versus bulk analysis strategies; reliability of measurements.
