Harmonisation of directive 92/72/EEC on air pollution by ozone inter-comparisons of calibration procedures for ozone measurements: 3 to 7 October 1994 - 20 to 24 March 1995 Ispra, Italy
In the framework of the implementation of directive 92/72/EEC on air pollution by ozone, and in application of article 4 thereof, the Commission of the European Union organized two inter-laboratory exercises to compare the calibration procedures used by national laboratories responsible for the calibration of measurements in the EU air quality networks. This publication presents the results of the studies. The good agreement between the calibration techniques (reference UV photometry, gas phase titration, boric acid buffered KI method) and results obtained shows the high level to which techniques for the measurement of ozone are harmonized throughout Europe. On the other hand, interferences of water vapour on the instrument response were observed for almost all analysers, and show the necessity of periodical checks and maintenance of the analysers.
