Abstract

The objective of this project was to study the effects of nitrides and carbides of the elements molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, titanium and zirconium in iron on the corrosion in sulphuric acid and on hydrogen uptake, diffusion, solubility and trapping by interstitial sites of different interaction energies. The investigations have been carried out on defined ternary iron based alloys using electrochemical surface analytical and electron microscopical methods. The results of the electrochemical hydrogen permeation measurements are described in terms of the trapping theory.
