Innovation regions? A comparative review of methods of evaluating regional innovation potentialFunded under: FP4-INNOVATION, IS-SPRINT 1
This publication provides policy makers with a global synthesis and review of the research carried out by a group of experts, between March and November 1994, for Directorate-General XIII of the European Commission (Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research). The project involved a horizontal inventory and critical analysis of existing studies on the measurement and evaluation of regional technological innovation services and infrastructure, innovative networks and other aspects of the regional innovative potential. Four research teams undertook this horizontal review for a distinct geographic zone, covering both the EU and the other members of the triad. Following the completion of this first phase, it was decided that a summary of the four studies would be the most appropriate format in which to diffuse the information gathered. Accordingly, RIDER (Interdisciplinary Research on Regional Development), has prepared the present document in collaboration with the three other members of the original consortium.
