Abstract

Experiments have been performed on the TCV tokamak to evaluate the response of Ohmic, L-Mode, limited and diverted plasmas to changes in the poloidal field coil voltages. The resulting closed loop plasma responses have been compared with the CREATE-L linearized magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equilibrium model of TCV. The simulated responses show excellent agreement with the experiments in both the time and frequency domains. Tests with models derived using different assumptions indicate that the underlying physical assumptions of the nominal model are appropriate.
