Abstract

A description of a model element intended to analyse structures made of concrete and steel, namely porticos, by utilising univocal compound of the type-one pillar/girder-one element-, by which the progressive variation of rigidity alongside the element is taken into account, is outlined. The mentioned model element has been recently developed in the formulation of flexibility context. A formulation of flexibility turns out to be particularly suitable for this purpose. Furthermore, while operating together with a global model of section of the type Takeda, within proportions momentum/curvature and operating a control over certain movable sections, allows us to develop an efficient and economical model element. This model will be able to move gradually to every weight stage.

Its practical application is presented: the simulation of seismic activity and the related behaviour of a four-storey building is experimentally performed by utilising the pseudo-dynamic method. A discussion on its possible applications to reproduce different phases of structural behaviour is carried out. .
