Abstract

Analysis of uncertainties in the results of groundwater flow and transport models is an important part of a performance assessment for a radioactive waste repository. The two tasks in this project consider the development of methods of address different aspects of these uncertainties. The first task addresses situations in which uncertainties in the distribution and continuity of different rock types is significant. Using borehole data from a site at Gorleben, indicator Kriging was used to construct models of the distribution of rock types. The second task concerns the estimation of uncertainties in the results of models that are implied by the uncertainties in the model parameters.
